Considerations:
- Your thoughts on the concept.
Momentum involves three components… speed… and two extra.
… All three being… mass (m), speed and direction (v).
… All three being… their moving vehicle’s momentum (p).
A driver is responsible to:
Be aware of… therefore safely manage… ALL three
- Your thoughts regarding example ‘tools’ to provoke thought/discussions.
* 5 designed & published posters.
* 5 designed & published Bubble-Pic images.
- If suitable to self, club, organisation etc… test out by thinking of dangerous situations/scenarios on the road, that are not primarily speed related… but mass and direction related.
… example…
The 2 second gap rule is an excellent speed safety point…
NOW THIS:
How many irresponsible drivers “direct” their vehicles INTO those gaps.
Argue pros and cons (if any)
Argue pros and cons (if any) of setting the image of the RED VELOCITY ALERT into the mind… IMPRINT IT… into the minds of the car, van, lorry drivers and also motorcyclists…. because….
Side on… The AMBER VELOCITY ALERT… any motorbike movement can be noticed easily… left to right… right to left… easy to notice, therefore can act safely.
Front on… The RED VELOCITY ALERT… the movement, ‘direction’ is directly (near directly) towards the view point… and ‘movement’ here is nowhere near as easily noticeable…
IT IS A KEY REASON of T-JUNCTION ‘ACCIDENTS’.
A driver of a vehicle that is at a T-junction… is often presented with the RED ALERT view point…
… The motorcyclist’s movement… its speed and direction…
… is less noticeable, because the ‘direction’ component… is near directly towards the view point…
… any velocity… is a speed… in a direction.
If the two versions are imprinted into the minds of drivers… the RED VELOCITY ALERT may train/enforce the mind to consider, look, specifically for:
… the less noticeable velocity…
… being the speed in a direction… coming towards…
… Therefore perhaps could/would educate to prevent a future T-junction accident.
To Know Where We Are At:
Ideation
The initial ideation stage, involving brainstorming the idea, and mental modeling in a divergent process, has completed. The ideation was then refined to a concept level (as on this website), through testing and more convergent thinking.
Concept
The concept stage is where we’re at:
Regarding road safety… “speed” is important and known about… Yet drivers are also responsible for their moving vehicle’s “mass” and “direction”.
It happens that the term “momentum” (no science or math needed) contains all three components… being… “mass”, “speed” & “direction”… and as the safe management of all three, in a moving vehicle, are a driver’s responsibility… the concept “Momentum Exists” could prove relevant to road safety… and education by implementation may enable beneficial measures.
This concept (here), continues and still involves consistant efforts to test for feasibility, and further refine if/when necessary.
Implementation
Implementation, is the turning of a concept into a tangible product, service, or change for beneficial measures of sorts.
This would involve further efforts, for the likes of governing bodies.
The author of the MomentumExists concept project (here) is not an implementation body.
