In road safety, an awareness of speed is an established named subject to consider.
A driver is also responsible for their vehicle’s mass and direction. If these were also named, it would focus another 2, making 3, named subjects for awareness.
It happens that the term “momentum” brings all 3 named subject areas… being: “mass“, “speed” & “direction“, to be considered.
In this Argue This prompt card:
Argue This: Awareness of direction = beneficial (regarding road safety).
Argument:
A driver may be below the speed limit… but:
* Weaving in and out of busy duel lanes.
* Thrusting into a flow of traffic.
* Moving over too soon, so being too close in front of the overtaken vehicle.
* Too close when passing pedestrians & cyclists.
* Blocking progress of other vehicles etc.
All are created by irresponsible “direction” management
Drivers are responsible
for their vehicle’s
Mass, Speed & Direction (Momentum)
